IMPROVEMENT OF SEVERE HEART FAILURE WITH MULTI-VALVULAR DYSFUNCTION AFTER SUCCESSFUL KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION: 2 CASE REPORTS

It is well known that CRD (chronic renal disease) is responsible for many cardiac complications. The exact pathophisiology of heart disease in ESRD have not been understood but many theories have been assumed. After renal transplantation many of these complications improve. It is not known to what extent cardiac failure due to CRF is reversible. We report two cases with ESRD and severe heart failure with multi-valvular dysfunction, which were in the waiting list of heart transplantation. Both cases had LVEF below 20%. After medical management LVEFs were up to 30%.
After successful kidney transplantation, both were asymptomatic and LVEFs rose to more than 50% after three months. Successful renal transplantation can significantly improve the cardiac function in ESRD, even with sever heart failure.
