IMPACT OF DONOR/RECIPIENT BODY WEIGHT MISMATCH ON FIRST YEAR GRAFT OUTCOME IN LIVING-DONOR KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION

There have been conflicting reports that kidneys from small donors may be at risk for graft loss if they are transplanted into large recipients. The aim of this work was to examine the Donor/Recipient Body Weight Ratio (D/RBWR) on patient and graft outcome. 117 kidney transplant recipients were selected and all patients achieved of 1-year follow up. According to D/RBWR patients were divided into 3 groups: low (less than o.8), medium (0.81-1.1) and high (more than 1.1). One-year graft surviva, episodes of acute rejections and means of creatinine was recorded. There was not statistically significant difference in the incidence of acute rejection episodes, means of creatinine and one-year graft survival between groups. We conclude that low Donor/Recipient Body Weight Ratio has no effect on one-year graft survival.
