The purpose of this study is to investigate how we procurement kidney from CD, success rate of renal transplantation and survival of recipient and graft when final diagnosis of brain death is confirmed, retrieval of kidneys were performed in 4 cases after intracorporal cooling and in 25 cases without intracorporal cooling. Surgical and medical complications were evaluated. From 2002 to 2004, 215 cases of potential brain death were reported to the transplant coordinator .The cases of death in the majority of cases was either road traffic accident (75%). Consent for donation was obtained in 51 (17.5%).40 cases were transferred to clean ICU.58 kidneys 20 corneas and 2 heart and 3 liver were retrieved from 29 CD. Immediate diuresis were occurred in 53 recipients but 3 graft loss occurred due to arterial thrombosis (1 case), accelerated rejection (2 cases). Delayed Complications were including incisional hernia (2 cases) lymphocele (1 case) and ureteral stricture (1 case). 1-year Survival rate of recipients and graft were 97.5% and 95.5% respectively
This preliminary report demonstrates that results of cadaveric donor transplantations are well and survival of recipient and graft is encouraging.
