COMPARISON OF HEMATOLOGIC PARAMETER BETWEEN AZATHIOPRINE AND MYCOPHENOLAT MOFETILE TREATED GROUPS AFTER RENAL TRANSPLANTATION

Azathioprine and Mycophenolat mophetile are mainly used as immunosupressant for the prevention of rejetion in organ transplantation. They are many side effect related to Azathioprine that include dose related bone marrow suppression manifasted as leukopenia thrombocytopenia or less often macrocytic anemia, liver damage, gasterointestinal disturbance, alopecia, pancratitis and myalgia and arthralgia. Mycophenolat mofetile also accompined with varient side effect that includs gasterointestinal disturbance particularly diarrhea, bone marrow suppression with leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and anemia, disturbance in electerolyte and lipids and peripheral edema. The aim of this prospective study was comparision of the hematologic parameter between Azathioprine and Mycophenolat mophetile within 6 month after transplantation. 80 kidney recipients were selected. 40 patients were on Azathioprine, Cyclosporine neoral and prednisolone, and 40 others patients were on mycophenolat mofetil, Cyclosporine neoral and prednisolone. The hemtological parameter including leukocyt, platelet and erythrocyte count and also RBC indexes were recorded before and 1& 6 month after transplantation. At the end of 6 monh these parameter were compared between 2 goups and statistical analysis was performed. There wasn’t any significant difference between 2 groups regarding to leukocyt and platelet count within 6 month after transplantation. Hb & Hct was also not differ significantly between 2 groups. RBC indexes MCV & MCH were slightly lower in patients who received Azathioprine. In conclosion, there wasn’t any sinificant difference in hematological parameter between patients who were on Azathioprine or Mycophenolat mophetile after transplantation.
