Neither the treatment with UW solution nor treatment with histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate solution resulted in a significant decrease of cells positively stained with BS-I Isolectin B4. Nearly 100% of the cells treated with UW or histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate solution, as well as those without any contact to cardioplegic solutions, expressed Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc-Rs on their surface.
